New Networks Institute, working with other independent consulting firms, offers a wide array of telecom and broadband-related market research and analysis services. This include market research services and analysis including consumer and niche market surveying, forensic phone auditing and optimization, expert assistance in legal and regulatory actions, as well as new product and business plan development.

  • Market Survey and Analysis: NNI has 25 years of market analysis based on surveys.
    • In 2009, NNI, working with LTC Consulting and UCAN surveyed San Diego California phone, wireless, cable and broadband users collecting actual phone bills and doing follow up interviews. Funded by the California Consumer Protection Fund, it established "subscriber-based" analysis as an alternative to the FCC's industry averages, bringing new insights into the majority of customers who are 'low volume' and mid-volume users.
    • In 2003, New Networks conducted a survey of Internet Service Providers and created an 'impact study' for the FCC's dockets on "line sharing", and competition. The data was used by Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy in their ex parte filings.
    • In 1993 (and 1995) New Networks Institute, working with Probe Research and Fairfield Research creating an influential consumer report, which asked the question "Do you know what you are paying for long distance per minute?" The question would become a centerpiece of Sprint's Candice Bergen campaign to start 'flat rate' pricing for long distance influencing the cost of long distance industrywide.
  • Forensic Telecommunications Auditing and Cost Optimization.
    • Working with LTC Consulting, New Networks Institute has been focusing on auditing phone charges and getting refunds, as well as examining the overall cost issues to save money. Current clients include small businesses, as well as municipalities, school boards, and other government and non-government entities.
  • Expert Assistance in Legal and Regulatory Actions.
    • Since 2002, New Networks Institute and LTC Consulting have acted as experts to help create legal challenges, including class action suits for telecom overcharging by Verizon. This included a failure to properly give discounts to customers as well as charging customers for missing circuits.
  • New Telecom and Broadband Product Analysis and Market
    • Since 1992, New Networks has worked with small start up companies' to develop business plans, including projections, trends and market analysis. Currently clients include with Global Media Music.
    • In 1992, New Networks Institute was primary consultant to Cox Newpapers to roll out the first "N11" service, like 311 in New York City.
    • In 1993, New Networks Institute proposed the '500' network, a personal phone number nationwide service which would have total 'follow' me capabilities -- ie, be used on any device that had a phone number, such as fax, voicemail, texting, to wireline or wireless devices. AT&T rolled out the 500 network based on a part of our proposal.
